Application Qualifications

(Applicants should satisfy all of the following requirements)
  1.  
    1. (1)Those of foreign nationality who have completed 12 years of school education in a foreign country, or those who are deemed by the Minister of Education and Science to have the equivalent academic ability.
    2. (2)Those who have completed (or will complete by March 31, 2012) an advanced course of a professional training college. The course must fulfill the requirements set by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (including being a minimum of three years) and be recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as fulfilling such. Applicants must have graduated from the course after a date specified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.
    3. (3)Those who by having sat a separate school entrance test are deemed to have an educational level equivalent to that of a high school graduate, and who have reached the age of 18 years.
  2. Those who took “Japanese as a Foreign Language” of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), and in addition must take either “Japan and the World” or mathematics. (Free choice of test language.)

Selection Method

  • Based on documents submitted and EJU score. (Two subjects, including Japanese)
  • Interview

(NOTE) The results will be determined upon the comprehensive evaluation of the preceding items.
Students applying from Japanese Language Schools will be required to submit a record of attendance (80% attendance rate is required).

Application Procedures

  1. Application form (form prescribed by HUE)
  2. Test Registration Card (form prescribed by HUE)
  3. Certificate of graduation and academic transcript from the educational institution in home country most recently enrolled in (NB Photocopies NOT accepted)
  4. Certificate of scheduled/prospective graduation and academic transcript of your school currently attended in Japan.
    * An academic transcript is required to show academic record and attendance record for each year.
  5. Transcript of EJU (photocopy is accepted)
    Only the transcript of the EJU administered by JASSO is acceptable.
    * Only the transcripts of tests taken in 2010 or 2011 will be accepted. Those who took the test more than once may present only one transcript.
  6. Health certificate (form prescribed by HUE)
  7. Certificate of alien registration
    1. (1)Must have been issued within the last 3 months by the public office in your locale.
    2. (2)Please specify Status of Residence and Authorized Period of Stay.
  8. Photocopy of your passport
    * Photocopies of all pages bearing entries are required.

(NOTE) Those who have taken the International Student Entrance Examination I should submit only (1) Application form and (2) Test Registration Card. No other documents are required.

  • Applications shall be accepted only by post. (Applications postmarked on the due date will be accepted)
  • Entrance Examination Fee
    • 1 Department ・・・30,000 yen
    • 2 Departments・・・35,000 yen
    • 3 Departments・・・40,000 yen
    • 4 Departments・・・45,000 yen
    • 5 Departments・・・50,000 yen

*  Please transfer the fee from any bank (except the post office) using the prescribed form from HUE.

Announcement of Results

  • The identification numbers of successful applicants will be posted on the bulletin board of the Office of International Exchange in HUE.
  • Notification of results sent by express mail.
  • Results can also be checked at HUE website for 1 week after the date of announcement.
