Special Entrance Examination for Affiliated Schools

  • For international students with recommendation from HUE-approved Japanese language schools.
  • Applications to multiple academic departments are not possible with this examination.
  • Application guidebook for the academic year 2012 will be available from July 1st, 2011.

Application Qualifications

  1.  
    1. (1)HUE admits foreign nationals who have completed 12 years of continuous education in a country other than Japan, or who have attained the level of academic ability required by the Minister of Education, Sports, Science and Technology.
    2. (2)Those who by having sat a separate school entrance test are deemed to have an educational level equivalent to that of a high school graduate, and who have reached the age of 18 years.
  2. HUE admits those who have scored more than 250 in “Japanese as a Foreign Language” in the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), and who have a score of more than 140 in either “Japan and the World” or mathematics. (Free choice of test language)
    * Applicants are free to nominate their language of choice (English or Japanese) for “Japan and the World” and mathematics, and for Courses 1 and 2 for mathematics.
  3. HUE admits those who attend HUE-approved Japanese language schools, are of outstanding character, have a strong desire for the admission to HUE, and are highly recommended by a Japanese language school principal.
  4. HUE admits those who will have been in Japan for more than 6 months before the date of the admission examination, and who are scheduled to graduate from (complete their course of study at) a Japanese language school in March 2012.
  5. HUE admits those who fully intend to enter HUE if admitted, and who will fully commit themselves to their studies in order to become a future bridge between Japan and their home countries.

(About the tuition fee reduction and exemption system)
International students from affiliated schools who pass this examination may, from amongst the required fees for the first year, apply for exemption from paying the tuition fees.

Selection Method

  • Based on documents submitted and EJU score. (Two subjects, including Japanese)
  • Interview.

(NOTE)The results will be determined upon the comprehensive evaluation of the above items. Students applying from Japanese Language Schools will be required to submit a record of attendance (80% attendance rate is required)

Application Procedures

Documents to be submitted
  1. Application form (form prescribed by HUE)
  2. Test Registration Card (form prescribed by HUE)
  3.  Letter of recommendation from the principal of the Japanese language school currently enrolled in (form prescribed by HUE)
  4. Certificate of graduation and academic transcript from the educational institution in home country most recently enrolled in (NB Photocopies NOT accepted)
  5. Graduation certificate, or certification of prospective graduation, and academic transcript from Japanese language school currently enrolled in.
    *An academic transcript is required listing academic record and attendance record for each year.
  6. Transcript of EJU (photocopy is accepted)
    A transcript only of the JASSO-administered EJU will be accepted.
    * Transcripts only from 2010 and 2011 will be accepted. Only one transcript will be accepted from candidates who sat the examination more than once.
  7. Health certificate (form prescribed by HUE)
  8. Certificate of alien registration
    1. (1)Must have been issued within the last 3 months by the public office in your locale.
    2. (2)Please specify Status of Residence and Authorized Period of Stay.
  9. Photocopy of passport
    * Photocopies of all pages bearing entries are required.
  • Applications shall be accepted only by post. (Applications postmarked on the due date will be accepted)
  • Entrance Examination Fee: 30,000 yen
    * Please transfer the fee from any bank (except the post office) to HUE using the prescribed form from HUE.

Announcement of Results

  • The identification numbers of successful applicants will be posted on the bulletin board at the Office of International Exchange in HUE. Results will be also available on our website: http://www.hue.ac.jp
  • Notification of results sent by express mail.
  • After announcement at HUE, the results will be conveyed to each Japanese language school.

* HUE will not accept telephone inquiries regarding results.
